SUBSEA INNOVATION CLUSTER AUSTRALIA (SICA), A COLLABORATION BETWEEN NERA AND SUBSEA ENERGY AUSTRALIA (SEA), IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE APPOINTMENT OF RICHARD RICKETT AS AUSTRALIA’S FIRST SUBSEA CLUSTER MANAGER

The Cluster Steering Committee, comprising of members of Australia’s highly experienced subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) industry, selected the Cluster Manager from a pool of highly qualified candidates.

Richard Rickett has extensive industry experience in subsea-related roles within operators and service providers. As a Chartered Engineer he has held senior engineering roles and has also managed his own consulting company focussing on Subsea Technology.

In his role as Cluster Manager, Richard will focus on the unique capabilities and competence within the sector and work collaboratively to address specific current and future challenges and opportunities to add value to the entire subsea IMR industry.

The Cluster Collaboration Workshop held in September 2017 opened a discussion on the sector’s challenges and established its focus. SICA has applied for funding from NERA to form a specialisation cluster and facilitate collaboration to address identified problems.

Richard’s main priority will be to strengthen collaboration to enhance the Cluster’s competitive advantages in the global market, and realise sustainable growth and value creation. “It will be hard work and great fun to build the competence, innovation models and business development needed to strengthen the subsea IMR industry. My ambition is to create a unifying organisation for the Australian IMR industry and reinforce the Australian subsea IMR industry's status as a global knowledge hub. SICA gives us the strategy and resources to fulfil these ambitions”.

Rickard starts his new role on Monday, 6th November and will be based at CORE.
